My First Limerick
Deviation Actions
Literature Text
I remember a woman who cares about me
And I am very thankful that she could see
A strong talent that I merely rent,
A talent which makes me feel confident
And makes myself very much me.
She is in my life, very much a part
Even when we live so far and apart.
In my room and in my possession
And the reason for my profession,
I do keep a picture of her
Just in case, my creativity needs a stir.
The picture is old but valuable like Spanish gold
In it, she wears a purple dress and the picture is old because it was before we became a couple.
Still, she is a special friend
And I think she is a friend to the end.
Writing my first limerick was a real trick.
And I am very thankful that she could see
A strong talent that I merely rent,
A talent which makes me feel confident
And makes myself very much me.
She is in my life, very much a part
Even when we live so far and apart.

I'm confused as to whether you're discussing writing a limerick or if you were attempting to actually write a limerick.
If it's the first, ignore me; however, if it's the second, this isn't a limerick.
This is how Google defines the word 'limerick':
a humorous, frequently bawdy, verse of three long and two short lines rhyming aabba, popularized by Edward Lear.
[what they leave out is that it's in anapestic trimeter, which means it follows this rhthm:
(the syllables in parentheses are syllables that can be left out)]
Here's an example of a limerick from bestforpuzzles.com/word-play/l…
I sat next to the Duchess at tea;
It was just as I feared it would be.
Her rumblings abdominal
Were simply phenomenal,
And everyone thought it was me!
